Lead UI/UX and Asset Designer for Studio Node

Goal

  • This project was for the app division of Southern Utah's Code Camp in 2025.

  • It aimed to introduce Studio Node to the wider community of Southern Utah and promote a large short-term project.

  • Designed to show innovation in both design and development to an array of judges for critique and competition.

  • This goal supported Studio Node's attempt at marketing our skills and services to the public, gaining experience, and working together in a short amount of alloted time.

Concept

  • Began with an initial brainstorm of how to appeal to the specific rubric of the competition's requirements.

  • Tasked with conceptualizing and designing a functional UI/UX prototype within a high-pressure, 24-hour development sprint.

  • Additionally tasked with conceptualizing branding, including logo design, wordmark design, and body copywriting.

  • Experimented with asset design and motion to reiterate the fun and playful elements Studio Node wished to express in the project.

Result

  • Managed the UI/UX design in a 24-hour timeframe with the support of Studio Node developers.

  • Produced key assets to demonstrate the functionality of the application to judges at the end of the competition.

  • Won 3rd place in the college division of the competition, even though the app was technically not functioning as intended during judging.
